This handout summarizes the study that was completed in 2006 in collaboration with Dr. Steven Skelton from California State University, Fresno and corresponds to the 2008 ASHA session entitled "Concurrent Treatment in the Speech Improvement Class." Dr. Skelton has developed a motor-learning approach called "Concurrent Treatment," which advocates teaching a full range of simple to complex exemplars (syllable to conversation) in a given session to facilitate generalization. San Diego Unified students made significant gains thanks to Dr. Skelton's efficacious approach.
Since 2007, SLPath has been dedicated to promoting the very best in evidence-based practice.
Our goal is to enable speech-language pathologists of all educational backgrounds to apply current, research-based treatment to their caseloads.
