In San Diego Unified, many comprehensive assessments are completed by teams of professionals (SLP, psychologist, OT, and others) at the child's preschool site in order to provide authentic assessments in the naturalistic setting of the classroom or speech/language group room. Preschool teachers are strongly encouraged to provide information about the child’s strengths, areas of concern, previous interventions and progress monitoring. Performance-based assessment consists of authentic data through observations across contexts, behavior sampling (e.g., language samples) and parent and teacher interviews. The emphasis is on the child’s strengths and potential for growth over time.
Since 2007, SLPath has been dedicated to promoting the very best in evidence-based practice.
Our goal is to enable speech-language pathologists of all educational backgrounds to apply current, research-based treatment to their caseloads.
