Teachers and SLPs can utilize this form to monitor the progress of children who receive RtI or IEP services. There are numerous ways to track changes over time. Some teachers and SLPs have utilized this form to collect data on the first ten utterances during each interaction by writing the number of words per utterance. For example, if the child said “play ball,” the adult would record “2” for that utterance. For a particular date, the data may indicate 2, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 2 word utterances. The next date may indicate different numbers. The hope is to observe an increase of words per utterance over time.
